Speed of time

This is possibly a too big change and probably mainly the problem for a handful of users, but the fast passage of time on sites really stresses me out - having less than twelve weeks for an entire ingame year is…short. It really makes it difficult to develop characters and relationships properly because obviously real life demands attention also and a good, well written thread takes a lot of IRL time if you put in more than two sentences each post.
I understand that a common timeline is practical, even necessary, but wouldn’t it be enough to have a new year every 6 months?
