It would be nice to have the code turned off anywhere it applies:
text-transform: capitalize;
On names
While most names start with a capital letter, some does not. This even applies to some Irish and Scottish names. Seeing that many Hogwarts students hail from these countries, it would make sense to have their names displayed correctly without unnecessary capitalisation.
Here are some examples:
de Fresel (Scottish surname)
Mac an Ghoill (Irish and Scottish surname)
Mac an tSaoir (Scottish surname)
If we expand our horizons even further, there are also more international examples of surnames without initial capital letters. I know many people like to use international names for their characters.
More examples:
Bat-sheva (Hebrew feminine name)
Su-jin (Korean feminine name)
Abd al-Ghani (Arabic masculine name)
Abd ar-Rashid (Arabic masculine name)
Abd as-Salam (Arabic masculine name)
Dae-seong (Korean masculine name)
Dasoda-hae (Apache masculine name)
De la Cruz (Spanish surname)
du Pont (French surname)
Van de Laar (Dutch surname)
Van den Akker (Dutch surname)
Van der Aart (Dutch surname)
and the list goes onβ¦
(Yes, I did check: Words will be capitalised after a hyphen (-))
While it is helpful to automatically have names capitalised (because most names function this way!), we should also keep in mind that the userbase is 13 years old and older and should know whether to capitalise initial letters in names or not.
Also, when drinking the Confusing Concoction and letters in the names get switched, it looks strange that the initial letter is capitalised if it is one of the letters that were not originally capitalised.
On titles (Easter only)
While the other seasonal themes do not have this feature, the Easter theme capitalises Every Word In A Title whether it is a topic title or a library book title.
While this may be the correct approach to titles in American, it isn't in Danish probably not in many other languages that the Worlds operate in. Using such titles is just wrong. Plus, it is inconsistent when the rest of the seasonal themes let us display our titles the way we meant them to. π
