Add dice to the topic pages

It is an rp platform but sometimes it would be nicer if our character have some restrictions. This would allow for users to think more along a single path than having to think about all the possibilities.

adding a dice will add a bit of dnd flavour to the site. Users can decide for an action for their character and have their topics lead in any direction. It will also create a sense of uncertainity and hence of “oh I want to see what happens next”.

Personally I do not want any “dnd flavour” on the site 🙁 and after 6 years irl roleplaying here non-stop, I think I would leave the site if it becomes that. I believe that the magic of WoX is roleplaying with other users, making their characters actions affect yours, and viceversa. Stories intertwined and so. You shouldn’t need some dice or random luck for things to happen, because you get that effect by rpging with other people. They are your “surprise effect” and the luck you get. Of course, I don’t see anything wrong with the dice if someone needs it, but make it a personal and outside choice, not something that affect the rest, because you will be restraining the ones that prefer “to think about all the possibilites” instead of a single path. Totally valid if that’s your style, because everyone is different, but the (almost) endless possibilities might be best for some people to explore their creativity and enjoy writing stories, and you will be erasing that if you implement that mechanic.

Sorry if my english is complicated, I think it’s an interesting mechanic, but maybe not for WoX, or not for everything (it’s good for special events, maybe?). But I fear this kind of thing it’s what messes up the “magic” of the site.

And yeah, I guess it might be a problem that some people roleplay a character that makes everything right and it’s the best at everything, and a dice might be a good way of forcing them to be more realistic. But at the end of the day, that’s a personal choice, and as long as they don’t upset the balance and realism of the universe that they are writing in, it will be alright. We have leaders and staff that read topics and make sure that what happens in them stays realistic according to the rules of the universe and of course, the site itself :D

This can be done by adding a include dice roll check box. When checkbox is clicked site can ask for dice (d20 d10). Dice roll will be visible only when topic reply is already posted so as to avoid multiple rollings.
